THE PEARLS OF PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY 2027

The CE You Need.
The Conversations You Don’t Get Anywhere Else.

Pearls brings women in dentistry together for four days of practical education, hands-on learning, honest conversation, and genuine connection. Earn 15 CE credits, customize your clinical training, learn from women who understand the realities of the profession, and leave with ideas you can actually put to work when you get home.
This is more than a conference. It is a place to become a better clinician and stronger leader while having the conversations about practice, money, relationships, wellness, family, and life in dentistry that rarely make it onto a traditional CE agenda.

MORE THAN TWO DECADES OF WOMEN LEARNING FROM WOMEN

Dentistry Gives You The Degree. Experience Teaches You Everything Else.

The Pearls of Pediatric Dentistry began in the early 2000s in honor of Dr. Diane Dilley, a trailblazer for women in the profession. From the beginning, the idea was bigger than continuing education. Pearls was created as a place where women could advance clinically while talking openly about the parts of dentistry that rarely make it onto a conference agenda. How do you lead a team without losing yourself? Build a career alongside a family? Navigate difficult patients, financial decisions, practice ownership, relationships, wellness, and all the other things dental school never prepared you for?

At Pearls, those conversations belong beside the clinical ones. Today, Pearls continues that tradition by bringing women together to learn from accomplished clinicians, practice leaders, experts, and one another. Pediatric dentists remain at the heart of the community, but Pearls welcomes all female dentists interested in becoming better at caring for younger patients.
 NOT YOUR TYPICAL DENTAL CONFERENCE

Three Days of Learning.
Three Very Different Ways to Grow.

DAY 1 | PEARL TALKS

Find Your Voice. Share Your Truth.

Friday gets personal. PEARL Talks creates space for candid conversations about wellness, relationships, motherhood, finances, leadership, difficult situations, and the realities of building a life alongside a career in dentistry. The goal isn’t inspiration for inspiration’s sake. It is practical perspective, better questions, useful systems, and hard-won lessons from women willing to talk honestly about what they have learned.
DAY 2 | HANDS-ON HUDDLES

Less Watching. More Doing.

Saturday is about getting hands-on. Choose four breakout experiences and build a day around the clinical skills and subjects most relevant to you. Small groups and immersive instruction give you the opportunity to learn alongside colleagues, ask questions, and practice techniques instead of simply hearing about them.
DAY 3 | PRACTICE POWER

Become the Leader Your Practice Needs.

Sunday turns the focus toward leadership, management, accountability, and the conversations that shape a healthy practice. Learn practical strategies for leading people, establishing boundaries, addressing performance problems, and creating greater consistency without sacrificing the culture you worked hard to build.
ONE REGISTRATION. ONE INCREDIBLE WEEKEND.

A Lot More Than Conference Ticket

Pearls is designed as an immersive experience, so your registration covers much more than a seat in the lecture room. Your education, accommodations, meals, receptions, and signature Pearls experiences are brought together so you can spend less time coordinating the weekend and more time enjoying it.

Signature Pearls Events

From Friday’s Fashion Show to Saturday’s evening reception, the weekend leaves plenty of room for fun after the learning is finished.

Different Careers. Different Seasons. A Lot in Common.

You don’t need to own a practice, you don’t need to be at a particular point in your career, and you don’t have to be a pediatric dentist.
Pearls brings together women across different stages of dentistry because some of the best learning happens when those perspectives share a room. You may be building your first years as an associate, growing a practice of your own, raising a family alongside a demanding career, rethinking what comes next, or simply looking for better ways to care for the children who walk into your practice. If you are a woman in dentistry looking for practical education and a professional community where people can talk honestly about the realities of the profession, there is a place for you at Pearls.
ONE REGISTRATION. ONE INCREDIBLE WEEKEND.

Build the CE Day You Actually Want

No two clinicians need exactly the same education. That’s why Saturday at Pearls puts you in control.
Choose four hands-on breakout sessions based on the skills, technologies, and clinical questions most relevant to you. Each session combines focused instruction with practical learning designed to move beyond theory and into application.

CE SHOULD CHANGE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GET HOME

Learn It at Pearls. Use It on Monday.

The best continuing education doesn’t end when the speaker leaves the stage. Pearls is built around skills, ideas, conversations, and systems that can follow you back into your practice.
You will leave with new clinical techniques to explore, better ways to navigate difficult patient and parent interactions, stronger approaches to leadership and team accountability, greater perspective on financial and professional decisions, and practical strategies for protecting your wellbeing while building the career you want.

Some lessons will make you a better clinician. Others may change the way you lead, communicate, work, or think about what comes next.

That’s what good CE should do.

FRIDAY, APRIL 2

Registraion and Breakfast
Welcome Remarks led by Dr.
LaRee Johnson
Wellness, Identity,
& Inner Work
Protecting your body, understanding burnout, staying balanced, and building a career that still feels like yours.
Pediatric dentistry can take a physical and emotional toll that builds quietly over time. Led by Dr. LaRee Johnson, this session takes an honest look at the habits and systems that can either support a long career or slowly make it harder.
The conversation moves beyond generic wellness advice into practical approaches to physical health, nutrition, movement, recovery, burnout, compassion fatigue, and professional identity. Colleagues will share what they actually do, what worked, and what they wish they had started sooner. What You’ll Explore: Evidence-based physical wellness strategies for pediatric dental practice, early warning signs of burnout and compassion fatigue, sustainable nutrition and recovery habits, and ways to evaluate whether your professional life remains aligned with your personal values.
Morning Break
Relationships,
Motherhood + Family
Practical systems, honest trade-offs, and hard-won perspective for protecting the relationships that matter most.
A demanding career doesn’t exist separately from the rest of your life. This PEARL Talk examines the full relational landscape, including partnership and marriage, children and the logistics of motherhood, friendships, aging parents, in-laws, caregiving responsibilities, and the community relationships that can either support or exhaust you.
Led by Dr. LaRee Johnson with colleagues sharing their own experiences, the session focuses on practical systems and conversations that help women navigate competing responsibilities without pretending there is a perfect formula.
What You’ll Explore: Managing the mental load of a working household, communicating through difficult conversations, navigating extended-family and caregiving responsibilities, protecting personal capacity, and maintaining meaningful friendships during demanding seasons of career and family life.
Lunch
Business, Leadership
+ Financial Wellness
The financial literacy, operational systems, and leadership tools dental school never taught you.
This session isn’t only for practice owners. It is designed for the associate reviewing her first contract, the owner buried in operations, the clinician considering partnership, the dentist navigating DSO employment, and the woman trying to determine what she wants the next chapter of her career to look like.
Led by Dr. LaRee Johnson, the conversation brings real decisions and real experiences into discussions about practice finances, personal finances, career models, leadership, delegation, hiring, culture, retirement planning, student loans, and knowing your professional non-negotiables.
What You’ll Explore: Understanding key practice financial metrics, comparing associateship, ownership, partnership, and DSO models, improving delegation and team leadership, and creating a personal financial plan for greater long-term stability.
Afternoon Break

No Protocol for This: Real
Situations, Real Solutions

The moments nobody prepares you for, and what to do when they happen. The parent who comes unglued in your operatory. The employee who walks out in the middle of the day. The procedure that doesn’t go as planned. The bad review posted before you’ve had a chance to respond. The equipment failure that turns an already packed schedule upside down.
These situations expose the gaps between clinical training and the reality of running a practice. Led by Dr. LaRee Johnson, this session uses real stories and real outcomes to examine what happened, what came next, and what systems were built afterward.
What You’ll Explore: De-escalating difficult patient and parent interactions, responding to unexpected staffing and operational crises, communicating through clinical complications and insurance disputes, protecting patient relationships, and building systems that make difficult days easier to manage.
Downtime
Reset and Recharge. Get ready for a beautiful night!
Happy Hour
The PEARLS Fashion Show: Fearless, Authentically YOU! + Dinner
Friday night, the scrubs leave the operatory and hit the runway. The PEARLS Fashion Show celebrates the women behind the profession and the creativity that doesn’t always get much room to show itself during the workweek. Attendees are invited to create their most unmistakably “them” scrub look, whether that means Bollywood glam, Western chic, sparkle and sequins, tropical resort, disco diva, patriotic pride, or something nobody else would think to wear. Walk solo or grab a girlfriend. Pick your song. Own the runway. Awards will be given, so dust off the bedazzler. The competition is real.

Hands-On Huddles: Build Your Own Clinical Experience

Saturday trades the traditional lecture hall for immersive, small-group clinical education. Attendees choose four breakout sessions from the available schedule, creating a day around the techniques and subjects most relevant to their practice.
Each 90-minute block is designed around less talk and more application, giving you the opportunity to ask questions, work through techniques, and leave with skills you can continue developing when you return home.
Attire: Scrub pants + your 2027 Pearls T-shirt.

What You’ll Explore: Moving from reactive to proactive leadership, holding team members accountable, addressing performance concerns, navigating difficult conversations, setting clearer boundaries, and maintaining high expectations without sacrificing a healthy practice culture.
